Storyline:
Philadelphia socialites Tracy Lord and CK Dexter Haven married on impulse, with their marriage and subsequent divorce equally passionate. They broke up when Dexter’s drinking became excessive, a coping mechanism for Tracy’s unforgiving way to the imperfect, imperfections that Dexter readily admits he has. Two years after their breakup, Tracy is about to get married again, the ceremony to take place at Lord’s House. Tracy’s groom is nouveau riche businessman and aspiring politician George Kittredge, who is otherwise a rather ordinary man and whom Tracy idolizes. The day before the wedding, three unexpected guests show up at the Lord mansion: Macaulay Connor (Mike to his friends), Elizabeth Imbrie – the two who are friends of Tracy’s absent brother, Junius – and Dexter himself. Dexter, an employee of the tabloid Spy magazine, made a deal with its publisher and editor, Sidney Kidd, to get a story about Tracy’s wedding – the wedding of the year – in exchange for Kidd not ‘ a brutal story with accompanying photos of Tracy’s father, Seth Lord, with a New York showgirl named Tina Marra. In reality, Mike and Liz are the reporter and photographer respectively for Spy. Mike and Liz don’t particularly like this assignment or working for Kidd, but they have to make a living since their chosen other directions, since being a serious writer and painter doesn’t pay the bills. A suspicious Tracy is on them, the whole truth Dexter admits to her. Tracy decides to expose Mike and Liz. But hours before the wedding, as the more confident Dexter and Liz begin to work on how to get the Lord out from under Spy’s threats, Tracy and Mike, both drunk, go on a journey of self-discovery with Tracy finally coming. after she realized a little faster than Mike.
