story:
Siberian Gulags travel 4,000 miles on foot to freedom in India.
In 1941, three men attempted to flee communist Russia, escaping from the Siberian Gulag. The film tells the story of him and four others who run away with him and a teenage girl who joins him on a flight. The group’s natural leader is Janus, a Pole who defies safe charges by torturing his wife, spends most of his youth outside, and knows how to live in the wild. They escape under the cover of a snow storm: an eccentric American, a Russian thug, a comic accountant, a pastry chef who draws, a priest and a pole with night blindness. They face cold nights, lack of food and water, mosquitoes, an endless desert, the Himalayas as well as many moral and ethical dilemmas during their journey to freedom.
